VNISH GLOBAL

VNISH for S19 and S21: choosing the right firmware

Go to the download pages

Before downloading, follow three steps:

  1. Find the exact Antminer designation, keeping every letter, “+” sign and suffix.
  2. Identify the installed control board and match it to an option for that model.
  3. Open the matching instructions, check their requirements for the device's existing firmware, then continue to the download.

A single letter can point to a different model. Some exact models also have several board options.

We examined the 1.3.6 records across the entire public catalog: 47 model identifiers, 76 model-and-board combinations, and 14 identifiers with more than one board option. These figures describe catalog entries, including models beyond S19 and S21. They do not describe the installed hardware population.

One letter changes the selection

S19 Pro and S19j Pro are separate catalog entries. S19 Pro lists XIL, while S19j Pro lists AML, BB, CV and XIL. Dropping the j and selecting a file by the familiar word Pro would lose an essential part of the model name.

Exact catalog modelBoard codes in the snapshot
Antminer S19XIL
Antminer S19 ProXIL
Antminer S19j ProAML, BB, CV, XIL
Antminer S21AML
Antminer S21e HydroAML, XIL
Antminer S21+ HydroCV, XIL

The codes in the right column come from the catalog's control-board field. They list selection options; they do not identify the board in your device. Even a single option in a row does not establish which board is installed.

Check the exact S21 and Hydro designation

S21, S21e Hydro and S21+ Hydro are not interchangeable selections. In this snapshot, the base S21 has one AML entry. S21e Hydro has two options, AML and XIL. S21+ Hydro also has two, but they are CV and XIL.

If you only know the word Hydro, establish the full model first. If you know the model but not the board, selection is still incomplete. Identify the board using the documentation for the specific device or support before downloading.

A package name does not replace instructions

All 76 reviewed entries use NAND in the installation-method field. This does not mean that every device or starting firmware uses the same installation procedure. A package name alone is not enough to choose the procedure.

Source and method

Source: the public catalog release dated 24 September 2026. We selected version 1.3.6 records and grouped them by exact model identifier and board code. Earlier releases were excluded from these counts.

This is an analysis of published metadata by its publisher, VNISH GLOBAL. It does not replace installation instructions, constitute independent device testing or confirm the hardware compatibility of a particular miner. Catalog data is published under ODC-By-1.0.
